Jaypee Hospital Noida celebrates reaching over 1,000 successful kidney transplants

Noida, March 13 (IANS) Jaypee Hospital in Noida has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing more than 1,000 kidney transplants. The hospital highlighted the increasing prevalence of kidney disease in India, with over 12,000 kidney transplants conducted annually due to poor lifestyle choices.

Dr. Amit K. Devra, Director and Coordinator of the Urology and Kidney Transplant Department, emphasized the benefits of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in improving the quality of life for patients. He mentioned that the mortality rate is low and donors experience less pain, quicker recovery, and shorter hospital stays.

According to Dr. Devra, factors such as high blood pressure, nephritis, and misuse of medications contribute to the rising incidence of kidney disease in the country. When kidney disease progresses to an irreversible stage, a transplant becomes necessary to avoid lifelong dialysis and provide financial relief to patients.

Post-transplantation, patients can resume their daily activities and lead a normal life. Dr. Vijay Kumar Sinha emphasized the positive impact of kidney transplants on children, highlighting proper body development post-surgery. A national-level workshop and conference were organized to mark the achievement of 1,000 transplants at the hospital.
