New York Superstar Strikers Claim Victory with Chadwick Walton’s Ton in Legends Cricket Trophy against Colombo Lions
In a thrilling match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the New York Superstar Strikers secured a massive 143-run victory over the Colombo Lions in the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024. Chadwick Walton’s century and stellar bowling performance led to the Strikers’ dominance, marking the biggest victory margin in the tournament.
The Superstar Strikers, with five wins in six matches, have secured the top spot in the league standings and are set to face the Rajasthan Kings in the final. Walton’s explosive innings of 107 runs off 46 balls, supported by Alviro Petersen, set a daunting total of 214/3 for the Lions, who faltered in their chase and were bowled out for 71 runs.
The Lions’ captain Asghar Afghan’s valiant effort was in vain as the Strikers’ bowlers, led by Dhammika Prasad, dismantled their batting line-up. Meanwhile, in another match, Delhi Devils triumphed over Kandy Samp Army with a convincing six-wicket victory, courtesy of a superb bowling display by Iqbal Abdulla and Pradeep Sangwan.
Abdulla’s spell of 3-19 restricted the Samp Army to a total of 111/8, which the Devils comfortably chased down in 12.2 overs. Amitoze Singh’s unbeaten 37 and Sangwan’s 11 not out anchored the successful chase. With these results, the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024 continues to showcase thrilling contests and remarkable performances.
