Wanindu Hasaranga reverses retirement decision for Test series against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga makes a comeback from Test retirement to join the squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. The leg-spinner’s return adds depth to the spin attack, alongside other key players like Prabath Jayasuriya and Dhananjaya de Silva, who continues as captain.

Hasaranga’s decision to return to Test cricket comes ahead of the ICC World Test Championship series against Bangladesh, starting on March 22. The squad also includes Kusal Mendis as the vice-captain and a mix of experienced and emerging players to face the challenges in the two-match Test series.

The Test series is set to kick off on March 22 in Sylhet, with the subsequent Test taking place in Chattogram from March 30. The team composition reflects a balance of youth and experience, with players like Angelo Mathews and Dimuth Karunaratne adding stability to the lineup, under the leadership of Dhananjaya de Silva.
