New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) – All-rounder Imad Wasim is being encouraged to reconsider his retirement from international cricket and make a comeback for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June. The 35-year-old’s impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League have sparked calls for his return.
Imad Wasim played a crucial role in Islamabad United clinching their third PSL title on Monday. His five-wicket haul helped restrict Multan Sultans to 159/9, and he then guided the run chase with an unbeaten 19*. This marked his third standout performance in a row, following successes against Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
Having announced his retirement from international cricket in November last year, Imad has been contacted by Pakistan Test captain Shadab Khan. Shadab expressed the need for players like Imad in the squad and hopes for his participation in the T20 World Cup, citing his exemplary performance in the recent PSL edition.
While Imad has not played a T20I for Pakistan since April last year, he has indicated his willingness to return if called upon by skipper Shaheen Afridi. Imad stated that he remains available for selection if the team requires his services, emphasizing his commitment to representing his country when needed.
