ICC Reveals Fixtures for 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the schedule for the qualifying tournament for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in Abu Dhabi from April 25 to May 7. Ten teams will be vying for two spots in the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year.

The tournament will feature 10 teams divided into two groups of five each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals on May 5, with the winners earning a place in the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh alongside the top cricketing nations.

In Group A, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, and the USA will compete, while Group B will see Ireland, Netherlands, UAE, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe battle it out. These teams will represent various ICC Global Development Regions as well as Ireland and Sri Lanka, who missed out on automatic qualification.

Matches will be held at the Zayed Cricket Stadium and Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi. The tournament will kick off with Sri Lanka facing Thailand and Scotland taking on Uganda at Tolerance Oval, while Ireland will play against UAE and Zimbabwe will meet Vanuatu at Zayed Cricket Stadium. The final will be held on May 7 at Zayed Cricket Stadium.

According to ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley, the Qualifier promises to be an exciting and competitive event, with teams fighting for a chance to secure a spot in the upcoming World Cup. The Emirates Cricket Board will host the tournament, showcasing their hospitality and support for women’s cricket.
