Continental’s Latest Technology Provides Assistance System for Motorcycles – Find Out More Here
In response to rising road traffic deaths, Continental is developing an Advanced Rider Assistance System (ARAS) for two-wheelers. This system, similar to ADAS in four-wheelers, includes features like automatic cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, designed specifically for cost-conscious markets like India.
The ARAS system by Continental aims to enhance rider safety in the two-wheeler segment. Unlike ADAS, it uses radar-based solutions for cost-effectiveness. With a focus on maintaining quality, the system integrates new-generation radar technology to reduce costs, making it suitable for the Indian market.
Latha Chembrakalam, from Continental India, highlighted the affordability and quality of the ARAS system for two-wheelers. Initial rollout will be for premium motorcycles, with potential for low-cost solutions for mass-market bikes. This technology mirrors ADAS features, offering Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Forward Collision Warning.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps riders maintain a safe distance, while Blind Spot Detection alerts to adjacent vehicles. Lane Change Assist enhances highway safety, and Forward Collision Warning prompts immediate braking in critical situations. Continental’s vision of zero fatalities drives the development of ARAS for the Indian market, with future expansion plans for other developing markets in Asia and Africa.
