India’s women set to embark on tour of Bangladesh for 5 T20Is, series commences on April 28

Dhaka, April 3 (IANS) – India will tour Bangladesh for a T20I series starting from April 28, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The five-match tour will see both teams playing five T20 internationals between April 28 to May 9 in Sylhet.

Three out of the five matches will be day-night encounters held at the main Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, while the rest two will be day games at the outer venue. The series is expected to play a significant role in preparing both teams for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in Bangladesh later this year.

The last time India toured Bangladesh was in July 2023, where they played three T20Is followed by three ICC Women’s Championship ODIs. India emerged victorious in the T20I series with a 2-1 lead, whereas the ODI series ended in a draw.

During the previous tour, Bangladesh secured their first-ever victory against India in Women’s ODIs, winning the series opener. However, India bounced back in the next game, resulting in a series-deciding encounter that ended in a tie.

The schedule for the upcoming T20I series is as follows: April 28 – First T20I (D/N) at SICS, April 30 – Second T20I (D/N) at SICS, May 2 – Third T20I at SICS Outer, May 6 – Fourth T20I at SICS Outer, and May 9 – Fifth T20I (D/N) at SICS. This series is set to be a thrilling contest between the two sides in preparation for the T20 World Cup later in the year.
