Woman in Jaipur gives birth outside hospital after being denied admission

Jaipur, April 4 (IANS) – A shocking incident unfolded at Kanwatia Hospital in Jaipur when a woman was forced to deliver her baby outside the hospital gate after staff allegedly refused to admit her. The woman, in acute labour pain, gave birth to a baby girl as a crowd gathered outside the hospital on Wednesday night.

According to sources, the woman, identified as Ashok Verma’s wife, was taken to Kanwatia Hospital for delivery. However, the staff there redirected her to Janana Hospital without providing any assistance or arranging an ambulance. Despite pleading, the staff did not admit the woman, leading to a heated argument.

In a distressing turn of events, the woman delivered the baby on a platform near the hospital entrance. Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma later arrived at the hospital to address the situation, expressing outrage over the staff’s behavior. Superintendent Rajendra Singh Tanwar also assured the victim’s family of support while Additional Chief Secretary Shubhra Singh ordered an investigation.

Responding to the incident, R.S. Tanwar, the medical superintendent of Kanwatia Hospital, stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and strict action will be taken against those responsible for the woman’s ordeal. The matter has sparked outrage and raised questions about the ethics and compassion of medical staff in such critical situations.
