Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital becomes the first on Indian Railways to achieve NABH accreditation

In a significant development, the Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital (JRH) in Mumbai has achieved the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) entry level quality control accreditation, making it the first hospital on the Indian Railways to receive this prestigious recognition. Western Railway General Manager A. K. Misra unveiled the NABH certificate at a ceremony attended by top officials from the hospital.

Applauding the JRH medical team for their achievement, Misra emphasized that the hospital’s medical services are on par with those of private hospitals. The NABH accreditation recognizes the JRH’s commitment to providing high-quality care for its patients and maintaining stringent safety and quality standards, said Western Railway’s Chief Spokesperson Sumit Thakur. With 361 beds and advanced facilities, the JRH serves as a tertiary level referral hospital for the Western Railway’s western zone as well as other railway networks in the country.

Established in June 1960, the JRH caters to a large number of patients on an annual basis, offering services to 8 Divisional and Sub-Divisional areas and 56 dispensaries. The accreditation is a testament to the hospital’s dedication to excellence in healthcare and commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for its patients. This recognition further solidifies the JRH’s reputation as a leading healthcare provider within the Indian Railways system, setting a benchmark for other railway hospitals to aspire towards.
