Top cardiologist supports extension of Ayushman Bharat for underprivileged, providing quality healthcare

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) Ayushman Bharat, India’s flagship healthcare initiative, has been hailed by cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty for providing quality healthcare to underprivileged individuals. The Health and Wellness Centers offer a range of services for the economically weaker section, while the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides health insurance coverage for hospitalisation.

Dr. Shetty emphasized the positive impact of Ayushman Bharat on underprivileged communities, stating that it covers major surgeries, including heart operations, that were previously unattainable for many due to costs. The programme’s Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) further reduces out-of-pocket expenses for beneficiaries and links all health records for improved access to healthcare.

Speaking to IANS, Dr. Shetty praised the Ayushman Bharat programme, highlighting its importance in benefitting a significant population in the country. The scheme has been instrumental in providing essential healthcare services and surgeries to those who previously could not afford them, thereby improving overall health outcomes for many individuals.
