IPL 2024: Jos Buttler’s brilliant century leads RR to victory over RCB

Opener Jos Buttler’s century in his 100th IPL match led Rajasthan Royals to victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Buttler’s 100* off 58 balls overshadowed Virat Kohli’s ton as RR secured their fourth win in IPL 2024. Kohli’s 113* helped RCB post 183/3 but wasn’t enough as Buttler and Samson guided RR to a six-wicket win.

Buttler’s remarkable century, which included nine fours and four sixes, made him only the second batter to score a century in his 100th IPL match. Captain Sanju Samson’s 69 off 42 balls also contributed significantly to RR’s successful chase. Their partnership of 148 runs paved the way for RR’s victory, with Buttler sealing the win with a six to reach his century and delight the home crowd.

RCB’s bowling lacked the needed aggression, with only Reece Topley making an impact. Despite an early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck, Buttler and Samson’s aggressive batting ensured RR stayed ahead of the required run rate. Buttler’s impeccable timing and shot selection, along with Samson’s powerful strokes, kept the scoreboard ticking for RR throughout the chase.

Overall, it was a thrilling encounter at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, with Buttler’s century stealing the show and helping RR maintain their unbeaten streak in IPL 2024. With this win, RR now sits on top of the points table, showcasing their dominance in the ongoing tournament.
