‘Heeramandi’ trailer reveals a story of love, freedom, betrayal, and power

New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) The makers of the series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ unveiled the trailer at a grand event with the entire cast present. The trailer showcases a tale of love, freedom, betrayal, and power set in the 1940s.

The three-minute video immerses viewers into the world of courtesans filled with love, betrayal, power, and the struggle for independence. Each cast member, including Sonakshi Sinha and Manisha Koirala, introduced their characters in poetic form at the trailer launch.

The trailer showcases the power struggle in the district of Heeramandi, where Mallikajaan and Fareedan, played by Sonakshi Sinha, are depicted as arch-enemies. Richa Chadha’s character highlights the challenges faced by courtesans in the line, “Sirf ghubgroo pahen lene se aurat tawaif nahi banti hai.”

Aditi Rao Hydari’s character, Bibbojaan, joins the fight for India’s freedom, with a powerful statement, “Ek baar mujrewaali nahi mulkwali bankar sochiye.” The trailer also features nawabs portrayed by Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Fardeen Khan, showcasing love and betrayal dynamics.

The trailer is filled with clashes and the fight for India’s independence. Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes his debut in the world of web series with ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ set to release on Netflix on May 1.
