Asian Games medalist Jyothi Yarraji to undergo training in Spain before Paris Olympics

New Delhi, April 11 (IANS) Jyothi Yarraji, silver medalist in 100m hurdles at Hangzhou Asian Games, will train in Spain for Paris Olympics with financial assistance approved by Mission Olympic Cell (MOC). The government will cover her training costs under TOPS funding.

Jyothi, ranked 23rd on Road to Paris list, plans to train in Tenerife, Spain for 45 days. The funding will cover airfare, boarding/lodging, Visa fees, facility access, sports massage, local transportation, and other expenses.

MOC also approved funding for badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwik Reddy to train with international sparring partners. The men’s doubles pair will train in Mumbai and Hyderabad with funding for their opponents’ expenses.

Indian shooters Raiza Dhillon and Rajeshwari Kumari’s foreign training plans in Italy were also approved by MOC. TOPS will cover their airfare, accommodation, coaching fees, ammunition, Clay Birds, Visa fees, and other expenses.

In addition to training plans, MOC approved trap shooter Rajeshwari’s request for equipment upgrade, with TOPS funding her new Gun Stock. Para-shooters Rahul Jakhar and Rubina Francis also received funding for participation in the WSPS World Cup in South Korea.

The funding will cover their entry fees, coach’s fees, boarding/lodging, local transport, gun permit, flight tickets, Visa, Insurance, and other expenses. TOPS continues to support Indian athletes in their preparations for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
