Finch says Rajasthan left too much to do in IPL 2024

In a thrilling encounter, Rajasthan Royals secured a close three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. With this win, RR grabbed their fifth victory of the season, maintaining their position at the top of the points table. However, Aaron Finch, the former Australian captain, felt that RR made the chase of 148 more difficult than necessary.

Despite a solid bowling performance by RR that restricted PBKS to 147/8 on a sluggish pitch, the Rajasthan side found themselves struggling at 115/5 during the chase. It was Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 27 off 10 balls, including crucial boundaries and sixes, that ultimately led RR to victory. Finch highlighted the importance of Hetmyer’s calmness under pressure and praised Rovman Powell for his valuable contributions.

Former India fast-bowler S Sreesanth expressed his delight at Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance, emphasizing the youngster’s potential to elevate RR’s game. Jaiswal’s 39 off 28 balls was significant, marking his first score above 30 in IPL 2024. Despite PBKS pacer Kagiso Rabada’s efforts in removing Jaiswal and Sanju Samson, RR managed to secure the win, dealing PBKS their fourth loss of the tournament.

Looking ahead, RR will face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, while PBKS will host Mumbai Indians at their home venue in the upcoming matches. Fans can expect an exciting showdown as both teams aim to continue their journey in the IPL 2024 season.
