Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 28 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens. Both teams have six points each, with KKR at second place and LSG at fourth due to net run rate. An exciting match is expected as KKR play their second home game after 22 days, coinciding with the Bengali New Year celebrations.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer included fast-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana in the playing eleven. He expressed excitement about playing in front of the electrifying crowd in Kolkata and emphasized the team’s adaptability despite unfamiliar conditions. On the other side, LSG skipper KL Rahul announced changes to the playing eleven, with West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph making his IPL debut after an impressive performance against Australia in the Test series.

Joseph’s remarkable seven-wicket haul in the day-night Test match at The Gabba played a key role in West Indies’ victory over Australia, leading to a drawn series. Despite preferring to bowl first, Rahul acknowledged the pitch’s potential and highlighted the importance of player recovery on a short turnover. With both teams fielding strong line-ups, the match promises thrilling performances from players on both sides.

The playing XIs for both teams are set, with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine opening for KKR while KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock lead the charge for LSG.
