Rahul reflects on LSG’s defeat to KKR in IPL 2024: “Every team faces tough games like this”

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a brutal defeat by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024, as captain KL Rahul voiced the team’s need for self-evaluation. Despite the loss, Rahul remains optimistic about bouncing back stronger in the upcoming matches.

Rahul acknowledged the team’s struggle to score above 160 in the last couple of games and emphasized the importance of reaching the 180-200 run mark. Reflecting on Sunday’s game, LSG struggled on a two-paced pitch, with Nicholas Pooran’s late surge being the saving grace in reaching a total of 161/7.

Mohsin Khan emerged as the standout performer with the ball for LSG, claiming 2-29 in his four overs. However, the team’s bowling unit struggled to contain the opposition, conceding 22 extras. Rahul pointed out the challenges faced on the pitch, noting the need for better execution of shots and tighter bowling.

Debutant Shamar Joseph’s IPL entry did not go as planned, but Rahul highlighted the positive of his pace and movement. While Joseph showed promise, there is room for improvement in terms of consistency and shot selection, according to Rahul.

LSG currently holds the fourth spot on the points table with six points and will have a few days to regroup before facing Chennai Super Kings on April 19 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The team will look to address their shortcomings and come back stronger in the upcoming fixtures.
