Nagal reaches career-high ranking of 80 while Bopanna drops from No.1 spot in doubles

Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal has achieved a new career-high men’s singles ranking of 80 in the latest ATP Rankings after a strong performance in the Monte Carlo Masters. Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna lost the No.1 spot in men’s doubles to his partner Matthew Ebden.

Nagal’s rise in ranking came after impressive wins against Flavio Cobolli and Facundo Diaz Acosta, reaching the Monte Carlo Masters draw. He made history by becoming the first Indian to win an ATP Masters 1000 match on clay since 1990, defeating Matteo Arnald in the first round.

Although Nagal faced defeat in the second round against Holger Rune, his performance led to a 13-spot rise in the ATP Rankings. He now stands as the seventh highest-ranked Indian in men’s singles, following legendary players like Vijay Amritraj, Ramesh Krishnan, Somdev Devvarman, and others.
