Aman Gupta is the co-founder of Boat, which deals in fashionable consumer electronics like earphones, speakers, and headphones. boAt may become a Rs 500 crore consumer electronics company by 2024.

Aman Gupta studied at Delhi public school and then completed a bachelor in commerce from Delhi University. Aman Gupta is one of the highly educated entrepreneurs. He then became C.A from The institutes of chartered accountants of India. He also did an M.B.A from the Indian school of business. He also did his second MBS from Kellogg graduate school of management.

Aman Gupta Early Career

After he completed his study, he worked in many places. He worked for audio product giant Harman international as its India sales director. 

Then he opened a startup ‘boat’ in 2016. ‘boat’ first started dealing in ‘ fashionable audio products’. For two years they sold earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers and premium rugged cabals. Within the first two years, they marked Rs 100 crores business in domestic sales.

“BoAt” business

The first product of the “boat” was an indestructible Apple charging cable and charger. The Apple cable used to break near the charging end and buyers had to do taping over it. “BoAt” launched a tough, braided cable, with a life cycle of 10,000 bends. They priced it for Rs.1,500. This product became the highest selling product on Amazon.

They also launched boAt BassHeads225 in 2016. Their vision was to avoid another me-too sourced from China products. In 2017 boat’s revenue reached up to Rs 27 crores and in 2018 it crossed 108 crores. They sold over 6000 units per day with four units sold every minute.

They crossed revenue of Rs 500 crore in FY 2020, a 108.8 per cent growth from FY 2019. It was a profitable business consecutively for 5 years.

boAt currently has 5,000 retail stores, supported by 20 distributors. The sale of over 10,000 units a day, and four million units per year. They have reached up to 20 million Indians so far. Almost 80 per cent of its sales coming from eCommerce channels such as Amazon and Flipkart.
