It is said that Richard II and Queen Anne of Bohemia announced that they were going to get engaged on March 32, 1381. People were very happy to hear the news and they started preparations for the engagement. But when March 31 came, everyone realized that they have been fooled, because March 32 was not on the calendar. Since then, April 1 is observed as April Fool’s Day.
In India, celebrating Fool’s Day on April 1 was started by the British in the 19th century. After this, every year in India, April 1 was celebrated as Fool’s Day. It is a Latin word that means joyful.
