Vaccination has started for 18+ people in the country from May 1, but despite this, it took several days to start due to lack of vaccine in many states. Now when vaccination has started for the 18-44 group after several days, it is also facing many hurdles. Due to the lack of vaccines, the states have decided to stop the vaccine for the people of this group. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that the vaccine for 18+ in the state will be used in the second dose of 45+ people.

In a press conference on 11 May, Maharashtra Health Minister said, “There is a shortage of vaccines, so we are considering temporarily discontinuing the vaccination campaign for the 18-44 age group.” There are 2.75 lakh vaccine doses left for this group, which will now be used for the group of 45 years and above. Administration of the second dose is the priority. “

“If the second dose is not given on time, the efficacy of the vaccine is affected to a large extent. To avoid this type of health crisis, the state government has decided to divert three lakh vials of covaxine purchased for people above 45 years of age group 18-44 ”.
