Senior officials said that the government has also decided that in the second phase of vaccination, beneficiaries can choose a different state except for the state in which they live according to the voters’ list.

The government will define which group will receive the free dose (vaccine). At the time of registration, the beneficiaries will know whether they are eligible for free immunization or not.

Officials said the next phase of vaccination would begin in the ‘first week of March’. Sources said that in the next phase, the information given by the beneficiaries at the time of self-registration will be checked on the basis of voter list and Aadhaar data.

Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to the states to increase the speed of vaccination and to vaccinate at least four days every week. In the letter, he has stated that all public health facilities are being mapped to cold chain points, finalized by the states.
