Four of Amritpal Singh‘s top aides were detained in Punjab and brought on Sunday by a special airplane to Dibrugarh in Assam as part of a concerted operation involving the authorities of Assam, Punjab, and Centre against the Khalistan sympathizer. According to police, the four detained members of the group led by Amritpal Singh are being held in the central jail in Dibrugarh.

The Special Air Force plane, according to the police, transported all four of them to Dibrugarh. A team of 27 Punjab Police officers, including the IG Prison, escorted them. They were greeted by the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh at Mohanbari Airport under strict security.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, responded, “This is a police-to-police collaboration,” when questioned about the situation. The exceedingly unexpected turn of events happened the following day when the Punjab government on Saturday started a significant campaign against the extremist Sikh preacher, with the cops arresting 78 people associated with the organization he leads. During a meeting on March 2, according to sources cited by NDTV, Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Chief Minister and Amit Shah, the Home Minister discussed the possibility of arresting Amritpal Singh.

Internet Connections are Suspended

By the authority granted to me by the India Telegraph Act of 1885, it is mandated that all mobile broadband services including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, CDMA, GPRS, and all SMS facilities, and all dongle services offered on cellular operators, aside from voice service, in the legal boundaries of Punjab be further canceled from March 19 (12.00 hours) to March 20 (12.00 hours), to avoid any threats of violence and any disruption of quiet and tranquility.

According to the order made by the additional chief secretary, broadband access is not being terminated to prevent disruptions to banking operations, medical services, and other crucial services. Amritpal Singh is now a runaway, and we are searching for him; we will soon catch him, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, Police Commissioner of Jalandhar told the media late Saturday night near Nakodar. He added that the preacher’s two vehicles were additionally seized.
