In Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, security forces killed four Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in an encounter on Monday. Inspector-General of Police Vijay Kumar said that after receiving information about the presence of the terrorists, the security forces laid siege and conducted a search operation in the Manipal area of ​​the district around midnight.

He said that the terrorists were repeatedly asked to surrender, but they ignored it and started firing on the security forces. Kumar said, “We asked them to surrender and took their families, including the wife of a terrorist and a four-year-old child, and asked them to surrender.” But they did not do so. ”The Inspector-General of Police said that the militants opened fire on the security forces and then an encounter ensued in which four militants were killed.

He said, “The four were big terrorists of Lashkar Taiba. He used to call himself Lashkar-e-Mustafa and in our records he was recorded as a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist and all these names including the TRF (The Resistance Front) were Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e- Mohammed has components. ”The Inspector General of Police said that three pistols and an AK rifle were recovered from the site of the encounter.

The slain militants have been identified as Rais Ahmed Bhat, Aamir Shafi Mir, Raqib Ahmed Malik and Aftab Ahmed Wani. Kumar said that an army soldier was injured in the encounter and he is undergoing treatment at a hospital here. He said that there have been nine encounters in the Valley so far this year, out of which eight have occurred in South Kashmir and one in North Kashmir. Kumar said, “19 terrorists have been killed in these nine encounters, out of which nine were from Shopian district alone and two were top militant commanders.”

He said that this year 18 youth are involved in terrorism, out of which five have been killed in various encounters and three others have been arrested. The police officer said, “The rest are still active and we are appealing to their parents to bring them back to the mainstream.” Some of these may be returned. In addition, seven youths associated with terrorism have been brought back with the help of their families. Parents have increased confidence in the security forces. “Kumar said that Pakistan is not deterring its antics and is using social media to connect the youth with terrorism.”

He said, ‘Apart from this, drugs are also coming from Pakistan and our youth is being ruined. I appeal to parents to keep an eye on their children and explain if someone is using drugs. They can also contact the police de-addiction center and we will help them. ‘
