The birth anniversary of the 10th Guru Gobind Singh is celebrated on 29th December every year as Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. The 10th Guru of Sikhism was a renowned spiritual leader, poet, and warrior. Every year, his birth anniversary is celebrated on the 7th day of the bright fortnight during the month of Pausha as per the Nanakshahi calendar.

Devotees from the Sikh community celebrate the Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti with full swing and great enthusiasm. In order to honor his legacy and recognize his sacrifices, ferries are taken to various places right before his birth anniversary. Langar is conducted all day long with Gurudwaras being decorated with lights.

Many don’t know that it was Guru Gobind Singh who founded the Khalsa Panth. It is regarded as the most significant part of the Sikh community. He was honored as the 10th Guru, a legend in spirituality, and a warrior. The day is celebrated with langar, kirtans, bhajans, ardaas, and langar. As per older calendars, he was born in 1666 on 29th December. Now his birthday is celebrated as Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. He died in the war with the Mughals on 7th October 1708. On his place of death, Takht Shri Hazur Sahib has been made in Nanded, Maharashtra to honor his legacy.

He married three times, and had 3 wives, he first got married to Mata Jeeto in Basantgarh at the age of 10 in 1677. He was survived by his three sons- Fateh Singh, Jujhar Singh, and Zorawar Singh.
