However, before the birth of Lord Buddha, various predictions were made. It was predicted that Lord Buddha will eventually become either a Greek monk or a great ruler. Gautam Buddha’s father out of fear restricted him to a closed place only. He was allowed to know about the outer world only after the age of 29.

When Gautam Buddha stepped out for the first time from his palace, he witnessed certain things. For the first time, he got to know about a sick man, a dead body, and an old man. Seeing this representation made him realize that this human life is temporary. However, life is full of grief and sorrow. Gautama eventually abdicated his princely lifestyle and went to forests. He underwent yogic austerities and doctrines for 6 long years.

On the auspicious day of Buddha Purnima, a certain type of Prasad is offered. Mainly the Prasad is cooked using dry fruits, sugar, rice, and milk. The prepared Prasad is initially offered to the lord and thereafter to monks. After this, the Prasad is distributed among family members, relatives, friends, and colleagues.
