Throughout the 9-days of the holy festival of Chaitra Navratri, devotees worship each day a new form of Maa Durga with their full devotion to get blessings from her all nine forms. The 9th form of Maa Durga is known as Goddess Siddhidatri, who has four arms. Her seat is a lotus and the vehicle is a lion. The ninth day of Chaitra Navratri is also known as Durga Navami or Maha Navami as Maa Durga is also worshipped with full rituals on this day. Along with this, Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama, is also celebrated on the same day.
It is believed, that Maa Durga had completely destroyed demons on this day. Maa Durga is called Adi Shakti. As per belief, there was no form of maa in the beginning. Then, Lord Shiva worshiped Maa Durga for the attainment of siddhis and obtained many siddhis from her. Then she incarnated as a woman in half the body of Lord Shiva and since then the Ardhanarishvara form of Lord Shiva appeared.
It is said that by worshiping Maa Goddess Siddhidatri, all the works of a person get accomplished. Along with this, all the wishes of the person are also fulfilled. This goddess is seated on a lotus seat like Lakshmi, the beloved of Lord Vishnu. This Goddess has four hands, in which she holds a lotus, conch shell, mace, and Sudarshan Chakra in her hands.
