Happy Good Friday 2023– Everyone must have heard about the story of Jesus being dead and reborn to save mankind and offer his blessing and eternal life to his followers. At the time of his resurrection was usually celebrated during spring or easter. But Good Friday hardly gets recognised. The festival is observed at the end of Lent or a few days before Easter. Origin 

Just to put it in simpler words, the day commemorates Jesus’s crucifixion. As per the Bible, Jewish religious leaders condemned Jesus right before claiming he is the son of God. Later he was sent to Romans for sentencing. He was brought to Herod from Pontius Pilate and then back to Pontius where he was crucified. The highest form of punishment during that time. During the punishment, he was mercilessly beaten, forced to carry his own wooden cross and nailed to the cross by feet and wrist. With so much pain and torture, he dies on the same day. 

Celebration of Good Friday 2023

The day is celebrated with peace and affection. Celebrated each Friday right before Easter, where devotees honour the suffering and sacrifices of Jesus. They also attend gathering where Jesus’s painful crucifixion is recounted and talked about. Many even refrain from eating or drinking to show their sorrow and pain towards Jesus. In some Catholic churches, fathers strip the altars bare as well as muffle their bells to show mourning. 

Why Good Friday?

Well many wonder why the festival is named ‘Good Friday’. Here the word ‘Good’ has a different meaning it denotes- a day or in some cases season where religious observance is held.
