According to careerindia.com, This day is celebrated in the memory of the great doctor of the country and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on 1 July 1882 and died on this day in 1962 at the age of 80. Bidhan Chandra Roy is counted among the great doctors of the country. On 4 February 1961, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. National Doctors’ Day For the first time in memory of Dr. Bidhanchandra Roy, the Government of India announced to celebrate National Doctors’ Day on July 1 in the year 1991.
