Significance of Navratri

Navratri is a major festival of Hindus. The word Navaratri is a Sanskrit word, which means ‘nine nights’. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti / Goddess are worshiped. The tenth day is known as Dussehra. Navratri comes four times a year. Pausha, Chaitra, Ashada, is celebrated in Ashwin month from Pratipada to Navami.

The nine nights of Navratri worship the nine forms of the three goddesses – Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati or Saraswati and Mahakali, whose names and places are as follows: Nanda Devi Yogmaya (Vindhyavasini Shaktipeeth), Raktdantika (Sathur), Shakambhari (Saharanpur Shaktipeeth), Durga (Kashi), Bhima (Pinjore) and Bhramari (Bhramaramba Shaktipeeth) say Navadurga. Navratri is an important major festival that is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout India.

Navratri Muhurat

The festival of Navratri is from Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. The auspicious time of Ghatasthapana on the first day of Navratri is from 6.23 am in the morning to 10: 12 in the morning. Abhijit Muhurta for Ghatasthapana will be from 11:44 to 12:29 am.
