IBPS exam

IBPS is an autonomous body that conducts tests for recruitment for public sector banks except for the State Bank of India. 

  • The exam is conducted annually for five individual posts.
  • Probationary Officer for public sector banks.
  • Bank clerks for public sector banks.
  • Bank clerks for regional rural banks.
  • Specialist Officer (grade I, II, and III) for public sector banks.
  • Probationary Officer for regional rural banks.

Three stages

The recruitment has three stages of screening; prelim exam, mains exam, and the final round of group discussion and personal interview. The prelim round consists of English language, numerical and reasoning ability. The questionnaires in the main exam are focused on reasoning and computer aptitude, English language, data analysis and interpretation, and general and banking knowledge. The general and banking awareness questions mainly (80%) pertain to current world events, and the rest (20%) are from static general knowledge. If you pass through these stages, you are called for the third and final round of group discussion and personal interviews.

There is defining pattern and style in questions related to the English language, data analysis and interpretation, reasoning, and computer aptitude. But the current affairs questions are dynamic and challenging as it covers a wide spectrum of subjects and sub-topics. As most students are ignorant of current affairs occurring within and outside the nation, they become perplexed. But if you study the correct study material regarding current affairs, you will be confident in answering those questionnaires.

Difference between 

But while preparing for the competitive exams, you must understand there is a vast difference between current affairs and current news. Current news is mostly information about political agitations, social unrests, road accidents, murders, and other chaos happening in society. But these are not current affairs. Current affairs are events that have socio-political impacts like recent government schemes, science and technology, war, space projects, and sports. The monthly current affairs quiz for bank exams consists of questions related to international events, sports, economy, banking system, reforms, recent repro, and reverse repo rate. To prepare for the banking and other financial institutions exam, you not only need to focus on banking and financial affairs but also on economic, agricultural, political, and industrial events.
