Washington Indian-American Bhavya Lal has been appointed acting head of the US space agency NASA on Monday. Bhavya is a member of the review team on NASA’s change by the newly elected US President Joe Biden.

Bhavya Lal has extensive experience in engineering and space technology, working as a member of the research staff at the Institute for Defense Analysis Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) from 2005 to 2020.

He led the analysis of space technology, strategy and policy for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Space Council. She has also worked for federal space-oriented organizations including NASA, the Department of Defense, and intelligence.

As well as Bhavya, Phillip Thompson will serve as White House liaison, Alicia Brown as associate administrator for the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, and associate administrator for the Communications Office of the Mark Etike Agency . Jackie McGinnas will serve as press secretary at the agency and special assistant to the Reagan Hunter Agency’s office.
