International Men’s Day 2022 Date:

International Men’s Day is observed on 19th November. It focuses on the welfare of men and how they have made positive efforts toward society.

History:

It was first celebrated in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, Professor of History, at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. He wanted to honor his father’s birth anniversary. He then motivated others to follow the lead and bring up issues that are concerning for boys as well as men in society. Although, in 1992 it was converted to International Men’s Day by Thomas Oaster. Then in 1999, it was revived by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a history lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. Also on the same date, Trinidad and Tobago’s soccer team qualified for the soccer world cup, uniting the country. 

Significance and celebration:

On this day, people highlight the issues related to men’s minds as well as physical well-being. The sexual struggles that disturb them, are something that cannot be talked about openly because of the toxic masculinity attached to it. The discrimination faced by them in society is also spoken about. Better gender relation is encouraged. The main aim is to encourage basic humanitarian values in men.  It should be noted that men are as equal as any other gender, making them feel any less than the other one will only make things worse.
