Lord Kaal Bhairav is a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva associated with annihilation. Kalashtami is also known as Bhairav Ashtami or Kaal Bhairav Ashtami. Talking about the importance of the Kalashtami Vrat, The Vrat of Kalashtami is very fruitful, if any person takes the fast of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami, Lord Kaal Bhairav removes all troubles of his life. Keeping fast on Kalashtami gives relief from all kinds of problems like – Crisis, sorrow, and enemies.

Vrat Katha

According to one of Kalashtami’s Stories. Thousands of years ago, Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma were fighting to decide the biggest God among the three. due to the fight between the three, all other gods, and Deities were distressed, and they decided to held a meeting.

In the meeting, one by one, everyone was asked that, who is the biggest God according to you, everyone presented their own side, and reached a conclusion. The decision of the meeting was supported by Bhagwan Shiva and Vishnu. But Brahma did not like the decision of the meeting and in anger, he uttered abuses to Lord Shiva. Considering Brahma’s abusive words as an insult to him, Lord Shiva got angry.

And in the form of that Anger Lord Shiva gave birth to Lord Kaal Bhairav. Lord Kaal Bhairav is also known as “Mahakaleshwar” and “Dandadhipati”. Black Dog is the vehicle of Lord Kaal Bhairav. In Anger Lord Kaal Bhairav cut Lord Brahma’s 1 of 5 faces, Since then Lord Brahma has 4 faces.

In this way, due to cutting off the head of Brahmaji, the sin of Brahma hatya occurred on Kaal Bhairav. After, that Lord Brahma apologized to Lord Shiva, then Shiva came in his true form.

Kaal Bhairav was punished for his sin, hence Kaal Bhairava had to spend like a beggar for many years. Thus, their punishment ends in Varanasi after many years. And the place in Varanasi named ‘Dandapani‘.

Puja Vidhi

Woke up early in the morning, and do all types of daily morning routines, after bathing, wear new clothes, and sit at the place of worship in your sweet home. First of all, splash Ganga Jal on the place of Worship, then take of oath of Fast, offer flowers to Lord Kaal Bhairav. Light the Dhup or Agarabaati in front of them. And then remembering God Kaal Bhairav, recite his aarti and Chalisa. Offer fruits, sweets, and good food to them.
