Know Raja Singh, The BJP MLA, Detained for Offensive Comments Against Prophet Muhammad

Following widespread calls for the arrest of T Raja Singh, who is the Telangana BJP MLA; was taken into custody for reportedly making statements about the Prophet Muhammad that were offensive. The leader, who is well-known for posting inflammatory remarks on social media, has had a case filed against him citing section 153(a) and section 295(a). Singh is the parliamentary representative for the Goshamahal district of Hyderabad.

Telugu Desam Party is the name of the party to which T Raja Singh belonged. He subsequently joined the Party, where he is now the Telangana party whip. Raja Singh has produced several comments that seem to be directed at Islamic society. Singh was expelled from Instagram and Facebook in 2020 for reportedly inciting hatred.

According to a Facebook spokeswoman, “We have prohibited Raja Singh on Facebook for breaking our policy barring people that support or indulge in hate and violence from being present on our network.”

Singh, however, asserted that he had not appeared on both the Instagram and Facebook platforms after April 2019. After Singh vowed to beat up entertainer Munawwar Farooqui if the latter performed a show in Hyderabad, on 20 August 2022. The Hyderabad police officers arrested Singh.

Raja Singh Comments on Prophet Muhammad

Raja Singh appears to blame the Islamic Society for the increasing overpopulation in the viral video. He also criticized some who murder someone for speaking something contrary to their ideology or religion they follow. Raja Singh also allegedly made a crude parallel for Prophet Muhammad without mentioning him by name. Society has been rallying in the capital with thousands of participants.

This occurred weeks after Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokeswoman, sparked anger throughout the world by reportedly condemning the Prophet throughout a broadcast debate. She was ruled out of the party and has now been prosecuted on numerous FIRs.
