La Cañada High School Shooting Update: Lockdown Imposed Amid Active Shooter Situation

Reports about an active shooter situation in Flintridge have prompted a lockdown at La Cañada High School. On Monday afternoon, a huge police presence could be seen outside the school.

When the police received information about the incident and a suspect on the campus with a firearm, an investigation was launched.

In the wake of this alleged shooting incident, other schools near La Cañada High School were also placed on lockdown, reported TimesNow.

According to allegations received by the police, an armed person sneaked onto the school campus, fooling the guards. However, the initial investigation claimed that no casualties had been reported in the incident.

Deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at the scene inspected the entire area.

La Cañada High School Shooting Lockdown Orders Issued

As the seriousness and risk involved in the alleged incident could not be determined, staff members of St. Francis High School and nearby residents were placed on lockdown.

The Sheriff’s Department issued the orders regarding the lockdown directly around 1:40 pm.

The lockdown orders were issued due to the doubtful presence of an “unsubstantiated threat to La Cañada High School.”

As the alleged incident made headlines in local media, the La Cañada Unified School District sent a message to parents regarding the incident.

The Superintendent of the La Cañada Unified School District, Wendy Sinnette, stated the following.

“We received a notification from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department indicating that they had a report of someone coming to the La Cañada High School campus with a weapon. The Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded and are currently on campus. As a precaution, the LCHS administration placed the school on lockdown as soon as the report was received. All students and staff are safe. At this time there is no imminent threat.”

A report released by ABC7 claimed that the police were investigating the entire place and searching for a male suspect.
