LSG vs RCB, IPL 2023: Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir’s verbal spat inspires fiery memes for Twitteratis
In the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League season 16, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locked horns against each other at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow. Winning the toss, RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis chose to bat first and was able to set up only 126 runs on the board while losing 9 wickets. LSG, on the other hand, struggled to track down the easily-achievable target after early wickets fell and were finally all out for 108 runs, resulting in a triumph for RCB by 18 runs.
However, the match was not as straightforward and boring as it seems, because of a hectic conversation between RCB player Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. This occurred after the match had concluded and even needed the intervention of other players to separate them both. After the match’s end, initially Kohli and Gambhir were seen shaking hands, but after Kohli’s verbal argument with LSG pacer Naveen ul-Haq, the mercury seemed to be soaring even in Gautam Gambhir.
Later, Virat was seen thumping his chest towards the crowd and having a positive conversation with LSG opener Kyle Mayers. As the two players converse, Gambhir enters the scene and takes Mayers away by holding his hand.
After Virat Kohli continued to call out to them and Gambhir turned and headed back towards Kohli. Lucknow captain KL Rahul intervened and tried to pull Gambhir back, while Kohli gestured for Gambhir to come to him. The heat escalated further as both players came face to face in a discussion, with the team’s players gathering around them. Eventually, Amit Mishra stepped in and urged Kohli to walk away, while Faf du Plessis managed to pull him away, putting an end to the tense exchange of words.
