National Panchayati Raj Day is the annual day of the Panchayati Raj System in India which is celebrated annually on April 24 by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Only the central or state government cannot be able to run the whole country. For this, arrangements have also been made for the administration at the local level. This system has been named Panchayati Raj. Panchayati Raj consists of Gram Sabha at the village level, Mandal Parishad at the block level, and Zilla Parishad at the district level.
With the institutionalization of Panchayati Raj on April 24, 1993, through the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992, a defining moment in the history of decentralization of power at the grassroots level came into effect. Rajasthan was the first state to implement the Panchayati Raj system in 1959 under the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
