Pentecost Sunday or Shavuot is a Jewish feast that is regarded as a type of thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is initially done to celebrate the wheat harvest. However, later on the day is remembered as the Moses receiving the Law given by God on Mount Sinai. The transformation of this day from a Jewish feast to a festival for Christians related to certain beliefs. The belief included compensation for the old dispensation of Law by the new dispensation.

History

When this festival was commemorated for the first time, it was done in the Christian church. The celebration was mentioned in the second century as a part of the Epistola Apostolorum, the Eastern church. However, later in the third Century, the same was regarded as theologian,  Origen and the head of the catechetical school in Alexandria along with writer of Carthage, Christian priest ,and Tertullian.
