PM Modi to inaugurate World Dairy Summit on Sep 12 at Greater Noida

On Monday, September 12, PM Modi will inaugurate ‘IDF World Dairy Summit 2022’ at Greater Noida. More than 15,00 delegates from 50 countries are all set to participate. 

The announcement was made by the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Parshottam Rupala during the press conference.

The 4-day event will commence on September 12 and the theme will be ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’. “The PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the…summit on September 12. Representatives from about 50 countries are scheduled to attend the event. There will be more than 1,500 delegates during the four-day program,” the minister said.

Home and Co-operation Minister Amit Shah along with other union ministers will attend the event as stated by Rupala. Plus, the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat will also be part of the global event. The last time India hosted International Dairy Congress was 48 years ago in 1974. The summit is a gathering of industry leaders, experts, farmers, and policy planners.

“India is number one in milk production and accounts for 23 percent of the global output. Foreign delegates would be sharing their experience and talking about the latest technologies in the dairy sector. We would tell them about our experience,” Rupala added.

She also added that people must know that 80-85% of income from milk selling is directly passed to the farmers by companies. “Cooperative major Amul alone pays about Rs 150 crore per day to farmers for procurement of milk,” the minister said. National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Meenesh Shah added that 300 foreign delegates and 1,200 Indian delegates will be at the event too.“700-800 farmers, mostly Indians, will also be taking part in the event,” PM Modi said. The summit, a carbon-neutral event, will have 24 sessions based on the theme ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’ discussing different aspects of dairying.
