One night in the month of Ramadan is called Shab-e-Qadr. The reward (virtue) of worshiping on this night is greater than the worship of a thousand months. The last Ashra (10 days) of Ramadan has emanated from Jahannam. During this period, prayer and solitude in the mosque with a concentrated mind are called i’tikaf. This night is generally considered to be the 27th of Ramadan in which Muslims wake up and request Allah for forgiveness for their sins. This year this day will be celebrated on April 29

In Shab-e-Qadr, mukhtalif prayers are performed throughout the night. This includes reciting nihil prayers, reciting the Qur’an, reading tasbeeh, etc. The specific date of Shab-e-Qadr or Lailatul Qadr is not mentioned in the Holy Quran. According to Islamic beliefs, reciting Namaz on the night of Shab-e-Qadr gives the result equivalent to praying for 83 years. An entire chapter in the Qur’an is dedicated to Laylatul Qadr.
