The 9 holydays of Navratri are just about to start. This year (2021), the holy festival of Navratri will start on 7 October with the worship of Goddess Shailputri and will end on 15 October with the worship of Goddess Siddhidatri. Let us tell you, during Navratri, each day one new form of Goddess Durga is worshipped.

Let us describe to you, all the 9 forms of Goddess Durga (Day-wise)

Day 1, Goddess Shailputri

Goddess Shailputri, also called Goddess Parvati, is the daughter of the Mountain King Himavat. Goddess Shailputri governs the moon, who is the provider of all fortunes.

Day 2, Goddess Brahamcharini

The second day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini, who signifies love, loyalty, wisdom, and knowledge. This is one of the forms of Goddess Pravati, who lived as celibate. It is told that, as she got Daksha Prajapati as the father, who had a deep contempt for Lord Shiva. So Goddess Parvati took this form to undertook severe penance to get a good father in her next birth.

Day 3, Goddess Chandraghanta

The third day of Navratri is the day of Goddess Chandraghanta. It is believed, by the grace of Goddess Chandraghanta all the sins, distresses, physical sufferings, mental tribulations and ghostly hurdles of the devotees are eradicated. She is believed to reward people with her grace, bravery and courage.

Day 4, Goddess Kushmanda

On the 4th Day of the Navratri, people worship Goddess Kushmanda. It is believed that she created the whole universe. It is believed that there was darkness everywhere when the universe did not exist. Devi Kushmanda smiled and the light of her smile created the universe.

Day 5, Goddess Skandamata

On the 5th Day of the Navratri, people worship Goddess Skandamata. She is also known as Skanda. She is the king of Caring Goddess. When devotees pray to her, the blessings they receive are two-fold.

Day 6, Goddess Katyayani

On the 5th Day of the Navratri, people worship Goddess Katyayani. She is one of the forms of Goddess Durga, who took birth to sage katyayana, with the purpose of vanquishing the demon Mahishasura. Because of her father’s name, she called Katyayani.

Day 7, Goddess Kalratri

Goddess Kalratri is one of the forms of Goddess Parvati. She is popularly known as Kaali. She fought Chandha and Mundha and eventually killed them. That’s why she is also known as Chamunda.

Day 8, Goddess Mahagauri

She is worshipped on the 8th day of Navratri. When she took the birth of Goddess Kalratri, her skin colour become dark as night. To regain her white complexion and beauty, and comes to be known by the name Mahagauri.

Day 9, Goddess Siddhidatri

On the final day of Navratri, people worship Goddess Siddhidatri. she is the Goddess of accomplishment, who bestows perfection (siddhis) on her devotees.

As per Hindu Calendar, Navratri will begin on 07 October, and will end on 15 October in India, USA, UK, and Canada.
