Sneak peek: Citroen Basalt set to launch in Indian market

Citroen Basalt, the latest addition under the C-cube program by Citroen, is set to launch in the Indian market in the second half of 2024. This SUV Coupe will be the most affordable in its segment and aims to cater to the needs of emerging markets.

The Basalt is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine, similar to the one in the C3 Aircross, producing 108 bhp of max power at 5,500 rpm. It will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Citroen Basalt will initially go on sale in India and South America, offering a budget-friendly option for SUV Coupe enthusiasts. The launch of Basalt follows the success of other models like C3 and C3 Aircross based on the C-cube program, focusing on affordability and efficiency in emerging markets.

Although Citroen has not officially confirmed the powertrain details, the expectations are high for the Basalt to deliver a powerful and smooth driving experience. With its sleek design and modern features, it is set to make a mark in the competitive SUV Coupe segment in India.

The torque output of the Basalt will vary depending on the gearbox, with 190 Nm for the 6-speed manual and 205 Nm for the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This ensures a dynamic driving experience for the users looking for performance along with style in their vehicles.
