The Supreme Court has given interim protection from the arrest of India Creative Head Aparna Purohit of Amazon Prime Video on Friday. Amazon Prime Video is accused of hurting religious sentiments regarding the Tandav web series. Now the Supreme Court has given protection from the arrest saying that the petitioner will have to cooperate in the investigation.

During the hearing, a bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and Justice R. Subhash Reddy also expressed dissatisfaction over the new OTT rules. The bench says that the new rules issued by the government are just like regulators who do not take appropriate action. Nothing has been listed on what action will be taken against those who do not follow these guidelines.

Pornographic content showing the OTT platform – Supreme Court

Earlier on Thursday, while commenting on OTT platforms, the bench said that pornography is also being shown at some places. The court said that it is necessary to have a mechanism for screening such programs.

The High Court had rejected the anticipatory bail plea

Let us know that earlier the Allahabad High Court had rejected Aparna Purohit’s anticipatory bail plea. The single judge bench of Justice Siddharth of the High Court dismissed the petition saying that, the fact is that the petitioner has acted irresponsibly by allowing the telecast of a film against the fundamental rights of the majority citizens of this country.

This decision has been challenged in the Supreme Court after the High Court rejected the anticipatory bail petition. On which the hearing is now going on. Please tell that in the case of the Tandav web series, apologies have been made on behalf of the makers and now Amazon Prime Video itself. But many cases have been registered regarding this web series, after which now officials like Makers and Aparna are afraid of arrest. That is why a petition has been filed in the court for anticipatory bail.
