India’s largest software services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Wednesday said it would recruit 1,500 technical staff in the UK by next year. The announcement was made after a meeting in Mumbai between UK Trade Minister Liz Truss and TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed TCS’s commitment to the UK economy, innovation, continuing investment in technology and developing workforce skills. The company said in a statement that TCS has been instrumental in keeping the UK economy globally competitive by participating in some of the UK’s big corporate growth journeys and supporting new initiatives and services.

Tata Consultancy Services workforce in the UK comprises people from 54 countries, of which 28 percent are women. At the end of FY 2020, the company’s revenue from the UK market was £ 2.7 billion.
