Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat may make some major announcements on Tuesday evening amid increasing speculation of a leadership change in Uttarakhand. State BJP Chief Spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan, who returned from Delhi with Rawat, told reporters here that the Chief Minister will be meeting the media in the evening and will answer their questions.

Chauhan, however, did not answer the question whether Chief Minister Rawat would go to Raj Bhavan to meet Governor Baby Rani Maurya? He only said, “The Chief Minister himself will tell the media about it in the evening.” The Chief Minister returned to Dehradun on Tuesday after meeting several leaders including BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi on Monday.

There has been a lot of discontent among the state BJP MLAs on some things including the cabinet expansion, but speculation of change of leadership in the state gained momentum on Saturday evening when BJP’s National Vice President and former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh and party affairs In-charge of Uttarakhand Dushyant Kumar Singh suddenly reached Dehradun and a core group meeting took place.

This meeting of the core group was not already proposed and it was convened at a time when the important budget session of the state assembly was going on in the newly formed summer capital of the state, Garsain. On receiving the information of the meeting, Chief Minister Rawat immediately had to come back to Dehradun from Garsain. Soon after the budget was passed, the session was also postponed indefinitely and the BJP MLAs were also called to Dehradun from Gansain immediately.

Most of the MPs of the state and important leaders associated with the state organization were present in the core group meeting which lasted for more than two hours. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had several programs proposed in Garasain and Dehradun on Monday but he had to go to Delhi from where he returned on Tuesday on the call of the high command.
