History
The University of Chicago was opened in 1892 by the American Baptist Education Society. John D. Rockefeller earlier funded the formation of the University. Retail merchant Marshall Field also donated 10 acres of land in Hyde Park for the campus of the University. Architect Henry Ives Cobb designed the campus in Gothic style.
The University of Chicago’s international acclaim after the large number its faculty and alumni have won Nobel Prizes. The university also plays major role in public policy, city affairs and also have expertise in medicine, tax policy, housing, education.
