Whit Monday is celebrated this year on June 6, a day after Pentecost Sunday. Thus, Pentecost is also known as Whit Sunday or Whitsunday. It is a public holiday in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. The name derives from the traditional white clothing worn by those who are baptized during this religious baptism season at Whitson. Celebrated by Christians 50 days after Easter, this religious festival commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus Christ.
