Win your heart with this breezy crew (IANS Rating: ***)

Hindi cinema has not written very many lead female characters who have careers, although to be fair to scriptwriters, many of the roles for women have been full of substance. And now it is thoroughly interesting to walk into a movie that is about the story of not one but three diligent friends who are working as cabin crew for the fictional Kohinoor Airlines.

Director Rajesh Krishnan helms a 122-minute joy ride in his heist comedy film Crew starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon playing the leads. The film revolves around three glamorous women who find themselves caught in a difficult situation orchestrated by someone with ulterior motives, leading to a never-ending struggle to break free.

The owner of the airlines, Vijay Walia (Saswat Chatterjee), is portrayed as a luxurious conman who puts up a respectable front while leading a deceitful life. The airline staff, including the three women, has not been paid for a year, leading to mounting financial and personal struggles for the characters.

The storyline of the film delves into serious middle-class issues while maintaining a lighthearted and fun narrative. The powerhouse performances by Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti add depth to the characters, with each one bringing their unique charm and spunkiness to the screen. The film also features notable performances by Kapil Sharma and Diljeet Dosanjh in well-defined roles.

The technical aspects of the film, including cinematography and music, are top-notch, creating a visually appealing experience for the audience. Despite some wild moments throughout the film, it ends on a somewhat tepid note. However, Crew is an honest, breezy, and enjoyable joyride that offers a mix of entertainment and substance to the viewers.
