On April 25, people around the world mark World Malaria Day to raise awareness of the medical condition that has claimed millions of lives. The deadly Covid-19 is already being fought across the globe. However, it’s also crucial to pay alert to other fatal illnesses like dengue, malaria, etc. One of the severe diseases that are conveyed by mosquitos is Malaria, which is among them all. People shared light on the disease’s eradication, prevention, and management on this day.

History

The day started with the World Health Assembly’s 60th session, the decision-making organization that first established World Malaria Day in May 2007. The group’s goals include advancing malaria awareness and education and disseminating knowledge of national malaria control strategies, such as grassroots efforts for malaria treatments and prevention in endemic areas. Africa Malaria Day was observed on April 25, 2001, the day before World Malaria Day. International businesses, collaborators, and organizations have the chance to collaborate on eliminating this disease on this day.

About Malaria

The well-being and way of life of people from all over the world are severely affected by malaria, a sickness that is both treatable and preventable. The Plasmodium parasite is to blame. Through the painful bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes, also called malaria vectors, this parasite is transmitted to mammalian blood vessels. Following a female Anopheles mosquito bite, symptoms associated with malaria often start to manifest 10 to 15 days later.
