Today, is the 72nd Birth Anniversary or Birthday of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, late Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, popularly known as “YSR“. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who served as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister between 2004-09, left an indelible mark on the lives of the Telugu people. He took a long walk and brought the Congress party to power. He took over as Chief Minister in 2004 and was the first to sign a file providing free electricity to many farmers. YSR has initiated several public welfare schemes such as Arogya Sree, Fee Reimbursement, 18 Ambulance Services. YSR’s full name was Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy.

He was born on July 8, 1949 to Jayamma and Raja Reddy in Jammalamadugu, Kadapa District. Born at Campbell Mission Hospital. Studied Medicine in Gulbarga, Karnataka. He graduated as a House Surgeon from Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati. You shoulls also known that, Before entering politics, YSR established a 70-bed charitable hospital in 1973 on his father’s name.

YSR was first elected as MLA in 1978. Elected 4 times as an MP and 6 times as an MLA. He was known as an undefeated leader. YSR was first elected PCC chief in 1983. He later became PCC president again in 1998. YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from 1999 to 2004. In the summer of 2003, before the election, YSR covered 1467 km. The hike was undertaken. The trek started from Chevella in Rangareddy district. The YS walk received a special response.

The Congress party came to power in the AP in the 2004 elections due to the YSR’s march. He was sworn in as Chief Minister on May 14. Stunned by the problems of the farmers, he signed the first file on providing free electricity to agriculture as Chief Minister. Many welfare schemes were introduced when YSR came to power. He was re-elected as Chief Minister in 2009. The joy of being elected again as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister did not last long. He was on his way to a bustle on September 2 when he was killed in a helicopter crash due to inclement weather. His death shocked the people of the state.

YSR has introduced several welfare schemes for farmers such as free electricity, health sri, fee reimbursement, 108 ambulance services. He was instrumental in getting the farmer debt forgiven, Indiramma getting a house and increasing the amount of pensions. The schemes introduced by YSR made him memorable in the hearts of the people.
